food and weather, in that order

I have to apologize if I make any mental errors, as most of my blood is rushing rapidly to my stomach right now, (and I expect that to continue for some time) and there isn't much left to service my brain. I just got home from a great meal at a place called Curras “the Mother of all Mexican Food” and the meal was fabulous. My sister and I both had the pollo mole, which was a huge portion of boneless skinless chicken breast meat smothered in a mildly spice mole sauce, served with rice and your choice of 4 different types of beans. I had white beans cooked with onions, garlic and a bit of bacon for flavour; probably the best beans I have ever had. That was when my eyes started to glaze over, and I got that warm rush of feeling you get when you are having a great dining experience. Then we had dessert. I had flan, which was creamy and firm: delicious, and Mardi had the tres leches cake, which was also extremely good. I am stuffed. I think inside me there is a fat person struggling to get out. At least that is what I choose to believe tonight. I have no regrets. If I die tonight, I die with a euphoric glaze in my eye.

Sorry to say this, for all my friends in Canada, but it was hot here today. This afternoon I went for a long walk in the neighbournood and nearly got a mild case of heat stroke, but it turned out to be simply caffeine withdrawal. It is strange to be walking down a street, and it's hot, so you think it's summer, but there are no leaves on the trees, because it's winter. What my body perceives conflicts with what my eyes see. I was chatting with a fellow today, and I mentioned that it was a hot day, eh? What? he replied in kind of a surprised tone, I thought it was just nice. Heat, I have learned, is relative. When it was 108' last September, it was “hot”. This, high 70's that it was today, is just nice.

I've noticed that my sister and I seem to make most of our choices of what we want to do based around food; buying, preparing, eating and going out. We try to fit everything else in around that. It seems to work for us. Needless to say we are having a great visit.
